WilmU's Eddie Nevins Named 2019 CACC Player of the Year in Baseball; All-League Teams Announced

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 7, 2019) -- Wilmington University's Eddie Nevins on Tuesday was named the 2019 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Year, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. Nevins, who also earned first-team all-league honors, highlighted a list of All-CACC and major award winners that were voted on by the league's 12 head coaches in the sport.

Joining Nevins as major award winners included Nyack College's David Gauthier (CACC Pitcher of the Year), Bloomfield College's Tyree Bradley (CACC Rookie of the Year) and Felician University's Chris Langan (CACC Coach of the Year).

Nevins was named the league's top player and garnered a spot on the All-CACC First Team as a utility player-non pitcher. He leads the conference in batting average at .442, while blasting eight home runs and driving in 51 runs. Nevins ranks third in the CACC in RBI, while also ranking among the top 10 in runs (2nd, 58), hits (3rd, 68), triples (7th, 4), home runs (5th) and total bases (1st, 114). He also leads the league in on-base percentage (.545) and slugging percentage (.740).

Gauthier was named the CACC Pitcher of the Year, as he went 7-3 during the regular season. He led the league with 79 innings pitched during the regular season. Gauthier ranked third in wins and led the league with four complete-games pitched. He ranks first in the conference with 85 strikeouts and posted a 3.57 earned run average. Gauthier closed out the regular season strong by winning each of his final five starts heading into the postseason.

Bradley has had an outstanding collegiate debut season for the Bears. He has hit .335 this year with nine homers and 37 RBI. His nine bombs rank four in the conference. Bradley's 100 bases are the seventh-best mark in the CACC and he also ripped 13 doubles.

Both Gauthier and Bradley joined Nevins on the All-CACC First Team, as Gauther made it in one of the four starting pitcher spots, while the latter made it on the top team at third base.

Langan was named the CACC Coach of the Year after guiding the Golden Falcons to a 24-8 conference record and a 30-21 mark overall. Felician won the CACC South Division Regular Season Championship and are in the mix for a potential at-large spot to the upcoming NCAA Division II East Region Tournament.

The other major award handed out on Tuesday was the 2019 CACC Team Sportsmanship Award, which was given to Caldwell University for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and character throughout the entire season under the guidance of first-year head coach Hasani Whitfield.
