Wilmington's Eddie Nevins Locks Up Second East Region Player-of-the-Year Award in 2019; NCBWA Announced All Region

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 24, 2019) -- Wilmington University standout Eddie Nevins this week garnered his second East Region Player-of-the-Year Award, as he collected the honor from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), as announced by the collection of media members covering Division II baseball in the East Region. Nevins' NCBWA honor joins a similar award bestowed upon on him by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) last week.

In addition to being named NCBWA East Region Player of the Year, Nevins garnered a spot on the association's first team. He was one of six individuals from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) to be named to the NCBWA First Team (at utility player position), as the CACC led the three East Region conferences (CACC, ECC, NE10) with the most honorees on the top unit. Joining Nevins was Chestnut Hill College's Eric Gilham (C), Dominican College's Justin Decker (2B), WilmU's Luke Johnson (OF), Post University's Rosario Missiti (OF) and Nyack College's David Gauthier (Starting Pitcher).

Nevins is just one more East Region Player-of-the-Year Award away from locking up consensus player-of-the-year honors, as the ABCA will be announcing its regional team in the next couple of weeks. If Nevins were to lock up that award it would mark the second-consecutive year a CACC baseball player turned the trick as Felician University's Matt Diesel did so in 2018. Nevins was also named the CACC Player of the Year earlier this month.

Four more standouts earned NCBWA Second-Team All-Region honors including Kendall Small (WilmU, 1B), Tyree Bradley (Bloomfield College, 3B), L.T. Struble (Felician, SS) and Nick Nardulli (Felician, Relief Pitcher).

The NCBWA will announce its All-America teams later this month, as it will determine which of the CACC's East Region honorees will earn national honors from the media organization.
