WilmU's Eddie Nevins Named 2019 D2CCA East Region Baseball Player of the Year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 21, 2019) -- Wilmington University's Eddie Nevins was recently named the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East Region Baseball Player of the Year, as announced by the national organization. It marks the second-consecutive year the D2CCA honored a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) standout with its East Region Player-of-the-Year Award, as Felician University's Matt Diesel took home the status in 2018.

Nevins was also named to the D2CCA All-East First Team as an outfielder, as five other CACC standouts joined him on the top unit including Chestnut Hill College's Eric Gilham (C), Dominican College's Justin Decker (2B), Post University's Rosario Missiti (OF), WilmU's Luke Johnson (OF) and WilmU's Dan Hyatt (UTIL-Pitcher).

Six other student-athletes from the CACC earned Second-Team D2CAA East Region honors including Kendall Small (WilmU, 1B), Danny Healey Jr. (Felician, 2B), Tyree Bradley (Bloomfield College, 3B), Joshua Colon (Dominican, SS), Brad Scull (WilmU, SP) and David Gauthier (Nyack College, SP). The six first-team honorees will now move on for consideration for the 2019 D2CCA All-America Team, which will be announced in late-May/early-June by the organization.

Nevins had a fantastic 2019 season, as he was also named the CACC Player of the Year and helping to lead the Wildcats to the conference championship for the second-straight year. He led the CACC with a .440 batting average, eight home runs, 62 runs batted in, 65 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. His 77 hits were the second-highest total in the CACC in 2019.

NOTABLE ON OTHER CACC D2CCA ALL-REGION HONOREES
**Eric Gilham led the CACC with 22 doubles.

**Justin Decker finished his career with 269 hits.

**Rosario Missiti ranked second in the CACC in average (.413) and home runs (11).

**Luke Johnson clubbed a CACC-best 13 home runs.

**Dan Hyatt led the CACC in wins with 10.

**Kendall Small drove in a league-high 63 runs.

**Danny Healey Jr., ranked fourth in the CACC with a .493 on-base percentage.

**Tyree Bradley was named the 2019 CACC Rookie of the Year. 

**Joshua Colon ranked third in the CACC with a .395 batting average.

**Brad Scull posted a 1.81 earned run average and a 6-0 record this season.

**David Gauthier was named the 2019 CACC Pitcher of the Year.

Nominating and voting for the all-region team was conducted by the 39 sports information directors throughout the three conferences that comprise NCAA Division II (CACC, ECC, NE10).
