NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 5, 2018) -- Forty-six (46) student-athletes on Tuesday were named to the 2018 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball All-Academic Team, as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara. The total number of honorees represent 11 of the 12 programs that sponsor the sport at the varsity level in the CACC.

Chestnut Hill College led the way with eight honorees, while Jefferson was next with seven student-athletes to receive all-academic accolades. Andrew Sibson owned Chestnut Hill's top cumulative grade point average with a mark of 3.70, while Gunnar Hayes had a 3.93 GPA to lead the way for the Rams. 

Hayes was one of three student-athletes on the CACC Baseball All-Academic Team who had GPAs of 3.90 or higher, including Corey Pic (Dominican College, 3.95) and Brenden Cuni (Felician University, 3.91). It marked the second academic honor for Pic this season, as he was named the CACC Top XVI Award winner for having the highest GPA at the finals site for the CACC Baseball Championship.

Nearly 50 percent of the all-academic team featured multiple-time honorees, as 22 of the 46 student-athletes were named to the CACC team for at least the second time in their respectives. Seven of the 22 student-athletes were named to the CACC All-Academic Team for the third time in their careers.

Wilmington University, which claimed the 2018 CACC Baseball Championship and reached the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament, had five standouts named to the all-academic team, including All-CACC pitchers Zach Rumford and Brad Scull, and CACC Baseball Tournament MVP Nick Grant.

To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a student-athletes must meet the following criteria: a) minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at the end of the immediate preceding term; b) minimum of two semesters enrolled as full-time student at member institution; c) student-athlete must be second year student-athlete at member institution; and d) student-athlete must have been athletically eligible the season preceding the award and used a season of eligibility.
