Dominican's Justin Decker & Felician's Matt Diesel Named to 2018 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 14, 2018) -- Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball standouts Justin Decker (Dominican College) and Matt Diesel (Felician University) were recently named to the Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District I Team, as announced by the national organization of sports information directors.

By being named to the all-district team, both Decker and Diesel will move on for consideration for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, which will be announced later this month. To be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically. They must also own a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at their current institution, and be a starter or important reserve on their team.

Decker earned Second-Team All-CACC honors as a third baseman this season, as he ranked third in the league in batting average (.388), fifth in on-base percentage (.489) and seventh in slugging percentage (.525). He homered once and drove in 36 runs in leading the Chargers to a second-place finish in the North Division and reaching the final four of the CACC Baseball Championship.

Decker, a junior, owns a 3.80 GPA in his major of financial management.

Diesel led the league in batting this season with a .435 clip. He also drove in a league-best 65 runs to help guide the Golden Falcons to the CACC South Division Championship, the No. 1 overall seed in the CACC Tournament and a berth in the conference championship final. Diesel also paced the conference in hits (87) and doubles (25). His on-base (.500) and slugging percentages (.700) were second highest in the CACC.

Diesel, a senior, sports a 3.71 GPA in his major of accounting.
