NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Tony Blake of Dominican College has been selected the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week on May 9. Peter Denyssenko of Concordia College was named Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Joe Gallub was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Blake, a 6-0 outfielder from Windsor, Conn., led Dominican to a 2-0 week and with it the No. 1 seed for the upcoming CACC Tournament. He hit .500 with two runs scored, two RBI and three doubles. He collected all three doubles in a 3-for-5 effort in a 10-1 win over Bloomfield.

Denyssenko, a 6-1 senior right-hander, hurled a complete game shutout in a 1-0 triumph over Wilmington University. He surrendered only seven hits with no walks while fanning eight batters.

Gallub, a 6-2 freshman outfielder, hit .444 in a double-header sweep over Wilmington. He drove in three runs on a pair of doubles and crossed the plate twice. He drove in the only run in a 1-0 win in game 1 and went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in game 2.

Honorable Mention

Justin Moore, Dominican (Jr., RHP, 6-2, Wantagh, NY) - Went 7.0 innings against Bloomfield and allowed only two hits and no runs.

Luis Gonzalez, Concordia (So., C/OF, 5-10, Carmel, NY) - Hit .500 in a 2-0 week with one run, two RBI and a double.

CACC Notes

Caldwell - The Cougars completed the regular season with a 5-3 loss to Dominican in a non-conference game on Thursday. Caldwell will host the University of the Sciences in the first round of the CACC Tournament on Tuesday, May 10 at the Kiwanis Oval. This is the first appearance in the CACC Tournament for Caldwell since winning the championship in 2008. The Cougars swept the regular-season doubleheader with the Devils, 4-3 and 6-2, on Apr. 9 at the Oval. Caldwell is 10-5 in their first season at the Oval, including 10-2 in conference games. 

Concordia - The Clippers finished out their season with a sweep of #2 regionally ranked Wilmington University; 1-0, 14-4.  Peter Denyssenko pitched the first game and collected a complete game shutout.  Joe Gallub drove in the winning run in game one.  Keith Malanga went seven innings in game two for the win. 

Dominican - The Chargers closed out the regular-season with four straight wins and five of their last seven to claim the CACC Regular-Season Championship with an overall record of 26-15 and a conference record of 16-4.

Philadelphia - The Rams ended the 2011 season going 1-1, picking up a CACC win against Chestnut Hill, 4-3.  In that game, senior captain Anthony DiFrancesco socked his team-leading sixth homer of the year.  PhilaU will look to the 2011-12 season with Coach Pat Horvath’s first class of recruits coming in.
