NEW HAVEN, CT (May 11, 2009) - Mike Godwin of Wilmington University has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week after being named the 2009 CACC Tournament MVP on Saturday afternoon. Fellow Wildcat JT Gregory was chosen Pitcher of the Week.

Godwin, a 6-0 freshman from Hockessin, DE, helped lead Wilmington to the CACC Tournament championship both at the plate and with his arm. He led the team in hitting for the tournament with a .500 batting average while driving in four runs, scoring twice and collecting two doubles. He also started on the mound in Wilmington's first tournament game and got a win against Bloomfield after pitching six innings and allowing zero earned runs while fanning four batters.

Gregory, a junior shortstop/relief pitcher from Woodbridge, VA, saved two of Wilmington's three wins at the CACC Tournament. He got the Wildcats out of a jam in the eighth inning of the championship game against Dominican. Trailing 5-4, Dominican loaded the bases with one out before Gregory moved from his shortstop position to the pitching mound. Gregory struck out the next two batters, and worked the ninth inning, to seal the victory for Wilmington.
