SAXON, NOONAN NAMED CACC BASEBALL PLAYER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK

NEW HAVEN, CT - Adric Saxon of Caldwell College has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 12. Philadelphia University's Kyle Noonan was tabbed Pitcher of the Week, while Alex Latchum of Chestnut Hill College was selected Rookie of the Week.

Saxon, a junior outfielder from Coral Springs, FL, led the Cougars to a 3-0 week with a .417 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage, along with two home runs, seven runs batted in, three runs scored and one double. He smacked home runs against Felician and Queens, and drove in five runs in the win over Queens.

Noonan, a senior right-hander from Morristown, NJ, took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before surrendering a hit against Wilmington last week. He hurled a complete game 1-hitter in the 3-0 victory, while striking out four batters.

Latchum, a 5-10 freshman outfielder from Warrington, PA, hit .833 in two games last week after going 5-for-6 with seven runs scored and four stolen bases in a double-header sweep over USP.

Honorable Mention

Mike Knipe, Chestnut Hill (So., 1B, 6-2, Sellersville, PA) - Hit .571 in two games with five RBI, three runs scored and one home run.

Thomas Forkin, Caldwell (Jr., RHP, 6-1, Oceanside, NY) - Hurled a 9-inning complete game vs. Felician and allowed only three hits and one run while fanning five.

Jack Crawford, Dominican (So., LHP, 5-10, Montgomery, NY) - Allowed one earned run and eight hits in 8.0 innings of work in a victory over Post.

Alberto Ruiz, Bloomfield (So., OF, 6-0, Edison, NJ) - Hit .833 in two games with four runs scored, two 2B and one RBI. 

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - In the Deacons' doubleheader sweep of Nyack College this past Wednesday, Ricky Maldonado was the hero in game 1, clubbing a grand slam in a 3-3 tie. In the wins Jonattan and Emilio Fernandez went 7-15 with 8 runs batted in and Alberto Ruiz went 5 for 6, pushing his season average to .391. Sean Stimpfel and Brad Smith picked up victories and Jon Walshed nailed down his third save of the season.

Caldwell - The Cougars swept a CACC doubleheader with Felician on Apr. 8, winning 2-1 and 10-3. Junior Adric Saxon hit a walk-off home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth, while junior right-hander Thomas Forkin held the Golden Falcons to three hits and one run in a nine-inning, complete-game effort. Junior Ray Keelan hit two home runs in the second-game victory over Felician. Saxon helped the Cougars win its other game last week with a three-run blast in a 10-0 triumph at Queens Apr. 9. Junior righty Robert Casal pitched a four-hit shutout against the Knights. Caldwell scored 22 runs and hit six homers in the three wins last week.

Felician - Senior RF Mike Libretta was hit by a pitch twice in Game 1 at Caldwell on Wednesday. He broke his own school record in that category (14) and tied the career mark (29) held by former teammate Ray Rose. Libretta also has 99 career base hits; he is looking to become the fourth active Golden Falcon and 15th overall member of the school's 100-hit club.
