NEW HAVEN, CT - Mickey Zudonyi of Felician College has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, March 1. Philadelphia University's Jared Farbman was named Pitcher of the Week while Felician's Chris Fogleman was chosen Rookie of the Week.

Zudonyi, a sophomore 2B from Holmdel, NJ, hit .421 in a 2-2 week with five runs scored, four runs batted in, three doubles, one triple and five stolen bases. He went 4-for-7 with three runs and three RBI against Queens and added three doubles and three stolen bases against Mercy.

Farbman, a 6-4 right-hander from Philadelphia, PA, earned a season-opening win against Georgia College and State by not allowing a single hit in 6.0 innings of work while fanning eight batters.

Fogleman, 6-3 freshman 1B from Waxhaw, NC, hit .333 in a 2-2 week with two runs batted in and one run scored. He went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a victory over Mercy. For the week, he had a .429 on-base percentage, and handled 28 chances without an error.

Honorable Mention

Kevin Lauranzon, Bloomfield (Sr., 1B, Disputanta, VA) - Hit .455 in three games with a home run and four RBI.

JT Gregory, Wilmington (Jr., SS, 6-0, Woodbridge, VA) - Hit .400 in three victories with five runs and two RBI.

Joe Harris, Wilmington (So., LHP, 6-3, Douglassville, PA) - Went 1-0 in two appearances with two hits allowed in 6.0 IP.

Sean Stimpfel, Bloomfield (So., LHP, 6-0, Jackson, NJ) - Picked up a no-decision and allowed three hits in 6.1 innings of work with 0 earned runs against Mercy.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - Leading the Deacons offense in their opening weekend was Alberto Ruiz (6-11) and Kevin Lauranzon (5-11). Lauranzon also had a homerun and drove in four runs in the three games. Anderson Minyetti stole five bases in the three games after totaling just seven stolen bases all of 2008. The Deacons also received solid starts from LHP's Matt Snyder and Sean Stimpfel on opening day. Stimpfel pitched 6 1/3 scoreless while striking out six against Mercy, while Snyder allowed one run in six innings and striking out five in a win over Queens.

Felician- Junior C Marcos Torres homered on Friday against Mercy to become the 14th member of Felician's 100-hit club. He later hit a game-tying two-run shot for his first career multi-homer game before the bullpen surrendered the lead. Senior CF Vinnie DiBenedetti is the sixth player in the 10-year program history to reach 150 career hits after his six on opening weekend gave him 152. Sophomore 2B Mickey Zudonyi tied a school mark with three doubles in Saturday's win over Mercy. The Golden Falcons scored 20 times in the final three innings of its 24-8 season-opening win over Queens.
