NEW HAVEN, CT - Cody Holliday of Wilmington University has claimed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Baseball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, March 15. Jack Crawford of Dominican College was the pick for Pitcher of the Week, while Matt Cook of Caldwell College was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

Holliday, a 6-3 senior outfielder from Havre de Grace, MD, hit .529 in a 4-0 week with four home runs, 15 RBI and nine runs scored last week. He smacked two homers in a game twice, against Shippensburg and Lincoln. He drove in seven runs in game two of a double-header against Lincoln and had four RBI against Shippensburg. He added a triple and a stolen base in Wilmington's conference-opening win against Philadelphia.

Crawford, a 5-10 sophomore left-hander from Montgomery, NY, hurled a nine-inning, one-hitter against Franklin Pierce in a 1-0 triumph. He walked just one batter and fanned five. Furthermore, he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the contest.

Cook, a 6-3 righty from Manalapan, NJ, tossed a three-hit shutout in his first collegiate start to lead the Cougars to a victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on Mar. 15. He struck out seven and walked one in a seven-inning, complete-game effort.

Honorable Mention

Danny Conti, Felician (Jr., LHP, 5-10, Aberdeen, NJ) - Went 1-0 with one save in four appearances last week. Allowed just one run in 12.0 innings. Earned a victory against Franklin Pierce by giving up five hits and one unearned run in nine innings.

Vinnie DiBenedetti, Felician (Sr., OF, 6-0, Forked River, NJ) - Hit .391 in six games with four runs scored and three RBI.

Sean Stimpfel, Bloomfield (So., LHP, 6-1, Jackson, NJ) - Picked up a no-decision against Molloy by hurling 7.0 innings and allowing five hits and one run along with four strikeouts.

Joe Doerrer, Caldwell (Fr., OF, 5-10, Middletown, NJ) - Hit .500 in four games with five runs and two RBI.

CACC Notes

Bloomfield - The Deacons' left handed starting pitching has been its biggest bright spot this far into the 2009 season. In a combined six starts this season, Matt Snyder and Sean Stimpfel have averaged just under 7.0 innings per start with a combined ERA of 2.68. The two lefty's have struck out 26 batters and allowed only nine walks in 40.1 innings.

Caldwell - The Cougars opened their season this week, losing at Pace on Thursday before playing four games in Florida against regional opponents. Caldwell, ranked 25th in the latest PING! Division II Poll, lost to No. 12 Franklin Pierce and Southern Connecticut State on Saturday before sweeping a doubleheader with St. Thomas Aquinas College on Sunday. Freshman right-hander Matt Cook tossed a three-hit shutout in his collegiate debut, an 11-0 victory over the Spartans. Junior Adric Saxon had four doubles and a triple for a slugging percentage of .800 in five games last week. Caldwell plays UMass-Lowell, Merrimack and New Haven this week in Florida.

Felician - Junior LHP Danny Conti earned his first career save vs. Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday, then pitched his first career complete game in a 5-1 win over No. 10 Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Senior P/IF Anthony Spina tied the school career record for pitching appearances with his 57th at Barry on Wednesday, matching former teammate Scott VanEs. Senior 3B Dave Schoer and freshman IF James Simpson hit back-to-back homeruns at Palm Beach Atlantic, with Simpson's the first of his career.

Philadelphia - Philadelphia's struggles continued into March, as they went 0-2 last week, including a 9-1 CACC opening loss at Wilmington. Junior shortstop Tyler Mentzer led the Rams with two RBIs on the week.
