RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Two Felician College baseball players are listed on the 2009 national Division II Watch Lists by Collegiate Baseball magazine. Junior catcher Marcos Torres (Miami, FL/South Miami) is noted as a Player to Watch and freshman pitcher Victor Monteagudo (West Palm Beach, FL/John I. Leonard) is cited as a Newcomer to Watch.

Torres was named First-Team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2008 after batting .365 with 13 doubles, three home runs, 34 runs and 39 runs batted in, playing in 48 games in the CACC's first season using wood bats. He slugged .494 and drew 22 walks for a .456 on-base percentage. Torres enters 2009 in 14th place on Felician's all-time hits list with 96.

Monteagudo is a true freshman who pitched and caught at John I. Leonard High in Greenacres, Fla. Last season, he was second among Palm Beach County pitchers in strikeouts, and was a first-team all-county selection. The 6-foot-1 right-hander is projected as a member of the Golden Falcons' starting rotation.

The Watch Lists were published in the Jan. 2 issue of Collegiate Baseball, in which the magazine also unveiled its preseason All-America teams. The publication's web site is www.baseballnews.com, although the Watch Lists are only available in the print version. Felician, a 10th-year program, went 26-24 in 2008 and qualified for its third consecutive CACC Tournament.
