RUTHERFORD, N.J. - Four Felician College baseball players have signed contracts to play in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL), an NCAA-sanctioned wood-bat collegiate league, for the summer.

The four Golden Falcons will be teammates on the Jersey Pilots (http://www.acbl-online.com/teamdetails1.asp?id=4&season=2008). Right-handed pitcher and rising senior Jeff Calabrese (Lincroft, NJ/Christian Brothers Academy) is a returning member of the club. He will be joined by classmates Alex Del Valle (Miami, FL/Christopher Columbus), a shortstop, catcher Marcos Torres (Miami, FL/South Miami), and junior-to-be second-baseman Mickey Zudonyi (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel).

The ACBL (www.abcl-online.com) is partially funded by Major League Baseball. All players in the league must have college eligibility remaining, and must be recommended by their college coach and/or a professional scout. The Pilots play their home games at Torpey Field in Bridgewater.

"It's an honor for those guys to be selected," said Felician head coach Chris Langan. "They are among a core group of players who will look to use this experience to lead us back to the CACC Tournament."

The Golden Falcons had a 24-24 won-lost record in 2008, finishing tied for fifth in the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a 14-13 league mark. Torres (.335, 4 HR, 36 RBI) and Zudonyi (.307, 3 HR, 42 R, 27 RBI, 20 SB) were first-team all-CACC selections. Del Valle (.335, 4 HR, 47 R, 39 RBI, 23 SB) led Felician in most offensive categories, and Calabrese (3-5, 5.00 ERA, 2 SV, 36 SO) was a member of the starting rotation.
