TEN CACC BASEBALL PLAYERS EARN ABCA ALL-REGION STATUS

NEW HAVEN, CT (May 22, 2009) - Ten baseball players representing Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) institutions have garnered All-East Region status from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) in an announcement made Thursday. Dominican College head coach Rick Giannetti, the CACC Coach of the Year, earned his second such honor this season, as he took home the distinction from the ABCA.

Four players earned first team All-Region honors from the ABCA, including Nyack College junior SS PJ Rodriguez, Wilmington University senior OF Cody Holliday, Caldwell College junior OF Ray Keelan and Dominican College relief pitcher Justin Moore.

Holliday was voted the CACC Player of the Year earlier this month, while Moore was tabbed CACC Rookie of the Year. Holliday, Keelan, and Moore were each first team All-CACC picks, while Rodriguez was named to the second team. Furthermore, Holliday, Rodriguez and Moore took home Daktronics first team All-Region honors this season. Keelan was a second team selection.

Second team picks to the ABCA All-region squad were Post University senior 3B Corey Huffine, Philadelphia University junior SS Tyler Mentzer, Bloomfield senior DH Ricky Maldonado and three Dominican Chargers; junior utility player Willie Mann, freshman OF Alexi Colon and sophomore starter Tom Kahl.

Kahl was selected the CACC Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and was a Daktronics first team All-Region pick. Mann was named to the Daktronics first team, while Mentzer was a second team selection.
