BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (September 25, 2019) – The Concordia College New York Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) participated in its first community service event of the 2019-20 academic year this past weekend, welcoming the Jubilee Team from the Ridgeway Church to campus for a Field Day on Sunday, Sept. 22.

“It was incredible to see the student athletes with the kids and young adults from Jubilee,” SAAC advisor Carly Mertens reflected. “I am extremely proud of the athletes we have at Concordia! Everyone had a blast and truly enjoyed themselves on a beautiful day! The Field Day with Jubilee was an amazing experience!”

“I had a lot of fun,” women’s soccer senior Abby Chaput said. “The basketball activities seemed to be the biggest hits. It was a great time and a great experience, I hope we do another one soon.”

“It was an awesome day,” women’s basketball senior Nicole Nicholson explained. “The kids really enjoyed themselves. We had a great turnout and had a lot of activities with the day wrapping up with a dance party that they seemed to really enjoy.”

“I am so grateful for this experience” volleyball freshman Lydimar Soto De Los Santos said. “Through little things like this we can change peoples’ lives and maybe make them a little bit easier! I was so proud to be a part of the Field Day and can’t wait for our next community service event.”
