In addition, Mara served as the chair of the NCAA Division II Convention Planning Team from 2007-09.

"The Division II Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee is comprised of talented and dedicated administrators," Mara said. "I am honored to serve as the Chair of the group and look forward to working with the group to continue to enhance the experience of our student-athletes."

The 2019 calendar year has been filled with milestone honors accomplishments, including Mara being inducted into the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in April, which celebrated his decorated coaching career of the women's hoops program at Mitchell College. He also worked with the CACC Directors Council to oversee the successful completion of the CACC Spring Championship Festival in May, which conducted five conference championships in one weekend (men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, softball, men's track & field, women's track & field) at one site.

Overall, Mara is a member of four halls of fame during his distinguished coaching and administrator career. Mara's experience in Division II is extensive. In addition to being the CACC Commissioner for 14 years, he also served as the Director of Athletics at Post University, and helped the league elevate from NAIA to active status as an NCAA Division II conference in 2004-05.
