NEW HAVEN, Conn. (November 27, 2018) -- Wilmington University sits atop the fall standings for the 2018-19 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Alfred R. Restaino, Sr. Cup for Women's Sports, as announced on Tuesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. The Wildcats sit in first place following the completion of all fall championships with a score of 11.3125.

The point system used for the award takes into account each athletic program’s finish in both the 2018-19 CACC regular season contests and conference tournaments. Each institution receives a combined point total and the sum is then divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors. The award is named after the late Bloomfield College Director of Athletics and Head Coach Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., who served a vital role in not just the school's athletic department but also in the formation of the CACC.

The CACC will announce updated women's standings following the completion of the winter season in late March, and will then announce the final standings following the spring season in late May.

WilmU was able to leap to the top of the fall standings thanks in large part to it women's tennis team claiming the 2018 CACC Championship. The title came in just the program's third year at the varsity level. The school's women's cross country squad finished runner-up at the CACC Championship, while both the women's soccer and volleyball teams reached their respective CACC tournaments.

Rounding out the top three of the fall Restaino Standings included Georgian Court University (2nd, 11.2500) and Jefferson (3rd, 10.6875). GCU is the reigning Restaino Cup Champions on the women's side, while Jefferson had won the last several women's all-sport titles prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

GCU had the benefit of the women's soccer team winning the CACC regular season championship, while reaching the semifinals of the conference tournament. The Lions volleyball team also reached the semis of its respective tournament. Jefferson claimed the 2018 CACC Women's Cross Country Championship, while its women's soccer, volleyball and women's tennis teams each advanced to the post-season tournament.
