BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team hosted Holy Family University Saturday afternoon and pulled out a, 66-56 victory over their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent. Bloomfield used a balanced attack to climb above .500 under first year head coach
Vanessa Watson. The Bears moved to 10-9 on the year with a 10-2 mark in conference play while the Tigers fell to 7-13 overall and 6-6 in league play.
The Bears trailed 15-18 at the end of the 1
st quarter but clawed back to even the score at 31-31 by halftime.
Dayanni Cochran (Las Vegas, NV) came off the bench to spark the home team's offense and finished with 10 points on her way to the locker room on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor.
The teams went basket for basket in a hotly contested 3
rd quarter but the home team used a 6-0 run to close out the period up, 49-44. That momentum carried over to final period with the Bears keeping the hungry Tigers at a distance for the entire quarter.
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) and
Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) joined Cochran in double-digit scoring as the starting duo posted 12 and 10 points respectively for the game. Cochran ended her day with 14 points and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Bloomfield, who extended their longest win-streak of the year to five games, host Concordia College on Tuesday evening a The Den. The Clippers come to town for their second go-around with Bloomfield in the month of January, after falling, 55-52 on the 6
th. The CACC North Division teams are set to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
