WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - The American International College baseball team fell 9-2 to Caldwell University on Friday, March 17.
AIC is now 5-7 on the season.
Both teams scored in the first frame. Caldwell's run came on a longball, but AIC's counter featured a single by Jackson Haker and an RBI triple by Kiernan Caffrey.
In the third, the teams traded runs again. A leadoff triple for the Cougars was converted into a run, but Haker answered with a solo shot to left center to lead off the bottom half.
Frm there, the Cougars took over. They scored the go-ahead run in the fifth, and then tacked on three in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth for the 9-2 score.
Kaden Peterson absorbed the loss with 6.2 innings of work, allowing six runs on eight hits, fanning nine.
AIC closes the Florida trip with an early-morning battle against Southern Connecticut State on March 18.
