Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

BEARS HOLD OFF LATE CHARGE FROM DOMINICAN FOR THRILLING 3-2 CACC WIN

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team held off the Chargers of Dominican College with a goal in the last minute of the game from junior transfer, Kareem Kennedy (Colon, Panama). The spectacular finish Tuesday evening at Foley Field ended with Bears victorious, 3-2 over their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rivals.

Bloomfield looked in control for much of the game, taking advantage of some shaky Charger defense in the first half. Junior Paulo Claudio (San Paulo, Brazil) opened the scoring in the 18th minute on a beautiful feed behind the defenders from junior Marcelo Torrelaba (San Paulo, Brazil). The Bears outshot Dominican (1-6, 1-2 CACC) 11-1 in the first half but went into the break with just a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, junior forward Amin Miller (Mondeville, Jamaica) in his first action of 2015, scored on an assist from senior Shacquille Brown (Springfield, St. Thomas) to put Bloomfield (3-2-2, 1-1-1 CACC) up 2-0 in the 71st minute. After a brief intermission caused by the field lights shutting off at Foley, the Chargers seized their opportunity and scored two quick goals within two minutes of each other. The Bears stared overtime in the face for the third time this season after Dominican knotted the score at 2-2 with less than four minutes to go in regulation.

Unwilling to settle for a tie, Bloomfield responded with a corner kick in the waning minutes off the foot of CACC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Claudio. Kennedy finished the well-placed ball in the back of the net to put the home team up for good on his first goal of the season.

Picking up his third win of the season, junior keeper Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) saved four balls despite giving up the two late goals in the second half.

Emotions ran high Tuesday evening as four yellow cards were awarded in the physical matchup, three going to the home team. The impressive finish to the game kept the Bears from their second straight overtime game against a conference opponent.

Bloomfield will return to action Saturday, for another CACC matchup against the Tigers of Holy Family University. Game time is slated for 1:30 p.m. at Foley Field.
