ORANGEBURG, NY – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team were knocked off on the road, 83-73 by the Dominican College Chargers Wednesday night. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback snapped the Bears 14-game unbeaten streak in league competition that stretched back to February of 2017.
 
Dominican improved to 14-5 overall, 8-2 in conference matches and evened up the regular season series battle with Bloomfield who dropped to 15-4 and 10-1 in CACC action. The regionally ranked teams squared off on Coach Baxter Court in front of an electrified audience.
 
The top-scoring team in the CACC left their high-powered offense on the van as they posted a season-low 73 points against the Chargers. The Bears team-leading point-getters, Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) and Keith Washington (Philadelphia, Pa) each went 7-of-14 from the field as the tandem registered 21 and 18 points respectively but it was not enough firepower against Dominican who notched three double-digit scorers.
 
The home team fed off the energy of the crowd and put the Bears on their heels with a 48-42 lead at the halftime break. Davidson and Washington were steady in the opening frame and poured in 14 points each to keep the visitors within striking distance. The duo couldn't find any help in the 2^nd half however and the Chargers seized the opportunity to hand Bloomfield their first conference loss in almost 12 months.
 
The Bears try to get back on track this Saturday when they return to the friendly confines of The Den for a 3:00 pm CACC contest. The Tigers of Holy Family make the trip up the Turnpike to face a Bloomfield team who has yet to lose a league game at home this season.
