BLOOMFIELD STEPS PAST THE WILDCATS ON THE ROAD, 89-80 IN CACC BATTLE

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team traveled to Wilmington University for their 17th all-time meeting with the Wildcats and came away with an 89-80 victory Saturday afternoon. The Bears are now 14-3 lifetime in the series against Wilmington and improved to 13-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) while boasting an 18-4 overall record.

Keith Washington (Philadelphia, Pa) turned in a game-high performance with 28 points, tying his second highest point total of year. Starters, Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) and Safee Abdus-Sabur (West Orange, NJ) turned in double-digit offensive outputs with 18 and 15 points respectively. Junior transfer, Jericho Cherisma (Brooklyn, NY) had his first double-double as a Bear, netting a season-high 11 points and team-high 10 rebounds.

With a hotly contested 2nd half ending in a seesaw, back and forth 43-43 point effort from both teams, Bloomfield relied on a late surge in the opening half that proved to be the difference in the contest. Tied at 32-32 at the 6:15 minute mark of the 1st half, the visitors clawed out a 10-1 run and seized control of the game. Washington led the surge with 18 points before the teams went to the locker rooms for the halftime break.

Davidson wrote a page in the men's basketball program record books when he knocked in a jumper at the 1:59 minute mark of the 2nd half and moved to the 3rd All-Time leading scorer in Bloomfield College history since becoming an NCAA member in 2004. Davidson surpassed Daniel Terrell (02' - 06') who poured in 1,711 points across his sharp-shooting career under Head Coach Gerald Holmes.

The Bears now take a few days off before getting back to action on Wednesday, Feb. 7th. Bloomfield will host the Warriors of Nyack College in The Den at 7:30 pm for a CACC North Division battle. The Bears magic number is now down to 3 to clinch the league's 2017-18 regular season title.
