BEARS MEN'S SOCCER LOSE 3-1 ROAD CONTEST AT WILMINGTON

3594WILMINGTON, D.E. - Sophomore Rafique Roberts (Portmore, J.A.) scored in the 35th minute of the game, but the Bloomfield College men's soccer team fell to Wilmington University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon during Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC) action. The Wildcat victory improved them to 7-5 overall with a 4-3 conference mark while setting the Bears back to 3-4 in CACC play and 3-8 on the season.

Wilmington drew first blood 15:18 into the contest as Samuel Naiwo sent a toe poke into the net from the right side on a dish from Jordon Ellison for a 1-0 lead.The Wildcats doubled up their lead in the 34th minute when Femi Akintunde connected with Pedro Moreira for the 2-0 strike past the Bloomfield keeper Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.). Roberts goal came on a penalty kick at 34:50 of the opening period for his first goal on the season.

Naiwo would add his second goal of the day on a one touch pass from Ellison to put the game out of reach and claim the Wildcat victory as Wilmington showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness wearing pink uniforms during the match. 

Cisneros made four saves in net for the Bears, while Wilmington's Frank Hall stopped two shots on the day. Bloomfield was outshot 11-4 and the Wildcats held an 16-4 edge in corner kicks.

The Bears return to action Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Rutherford, N.J. where the Golden Falcons of Felician College await for another exciting CACC battle.
