Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College Bears women's soccer team fell to the Chargers of Dominican College, 3-1 this afternoon in their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match of the season. Following the loss, the Bears now move to 0-2 overall for the season and 0-1 in CACC play.
Dominican College went on the attack first, striking the opening goal of the contest from senior forward Melissa Messina in the 27th minute of play on a pass from Samantha Cala. The Chargers would take their 1-0 lead into the break as the Bears prepared to regroup for the second half.
Bloomfield broke thru at the 61:24 minute mark when sophomore forward Rianna McNew (Miami, F.L.) scored her second goal of the season from 6 yards out after a cross by senior Sarah Barnes (Sayreville, N.J.). The 1-1 tie would last just three minutes as freshman Jamie Nevins netted her first collegiate goal from 20 yards outs and ut the Chargers up for good. A goal in the 70th minute extended the Dominican advantage to 3-1 for the eventual victory.
Bloomfield goalkeeper Diana Vincintini (Lacey Township, N.J.) made 7 saves in the loss.
The Bears will have their 2014 home opener this coming Saturday as CACC opponent Georgian Court University come to town for a 12:00pm match up at Foley Field.
