TWO DOUBLE-DOUBLES HELP BEARS HOLD OFF WILDCATS AT THE WILMU SPORTS COMPLEX

WILMINGTON, Del. – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team picked up their 7th consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in a, 62-55 decision on the road against Wilmington University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win kept the Bears in first place in the North Division with a 12-2 league record and 12-9 overall mark. The Wildcats dropped to 6-16 on the season with a 3-11 mark in conference play.

Junior forward, Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) recorded her second 20-pt game and double-double of the year as she led all scorers with 24 points on a blistering 10-of-11 shooting day and added 10 rebounds. Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) had a solid performance with 14 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and a perfect 3-of-3 from 3-pt range. Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) registered her 5th double-double of the season with a modest, 10 points and 11 boards day at the office.

The visitors went into the halftime break up, 31-24 over the Wildcats. Floyd had 10 points over the first two quarters of play on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. Bynes added 8 first half points as the Bears shot over 40.0 percent from the field as a team.

Floyd was perfect from the field in the 3rd quarter and posted 10 points to help Bloomfield extend their lead to eleven (52-41) by the end of the frame. Wilmington climbed back to within six points (52-46) with 6:20 remaining on the clock and Floyd on the bench. The visitors had managed just two points in the final quarter with under three minutes left to play but Floyd converted a layup and the Bears held on to maintain their 1st place standing in the North.

Bloomfield will return home for another CACC battle on Tuesday, Feb. 7th against Nyack College. The Warriors enter The Den for a 5:30 pm showdown in front of the Bears home crowd.
