WILMINGTON, Del. – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team picked up their 7
th consecutive victory Saturday afternoon in a, 62-55 decision on the road against Wilmington University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win kept the Bears in first place in the North Division with a 12-2 league record and 12-9 overall mark. The Wildcats dropped to 6-16 on the season with a 3-11 mark in conference play.
Junior forward,
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) recorded her second 20-pt game and double-double of the year as she led all scorers with 24 points on a blistering 10-of-11 shooting day and added 10 rebounds.
Kiamsha Bynes (Piscataway, NJ) had a solid performance with 14 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the floor and a perfect 3-of-3 from 3-pt range.
Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) registered her 5
th double-double of the season with a modest, 10 points and 11 boards day at the office.
The visitors went into the halftime break up, 31-24 over the Wildcats. Floyd had 10 points over the first two quarters of play on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor. Bynes added 8 first half points as the Bears shot over 40.0 percent from the field as a team.
Floyd was perfect from the field in the 3
rd quarter and posted 10 points to help Bloomfield extend their lead to eleven (52-41) by the end of the frame. Wilmington climbed back to within six points (52-46) with 6:20 remaining on the clock and Floyd on the bench. The visitors had managed just two points in the final quarter with under three minutes left to play but Floyd converted a layup and the Bears held on to maintain their 1
st place standing in the North.
Bloomfield will return home for another CACC battle on Tuesday, Feb. 7
th against Nyack College. The Warriors enter The Den for a 5:30 pm showdown in front of the Bears home crowd.
