Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team fell behind 1-0 just 3:32 into play on Saturday evening at home versus the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College in the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener for both squads at Knights Field, but the Purple Knights staged a big comeback netting two goals in just over the next six minutes of action on their way to a 4-1 triumph. With the win, UB is now 2-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play. The Griffins slip to 0-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the CACC.
After Chestnut Hill opened the scoring in the match off a well-placed free kick by Juan Ortiz, Bridgeport stormed back with goals by graduate student Josef Preci (Savona, Italy) at the 6:43 mark, and freshman Maximilian Kissel (Wiesbaden, Germany) put home his team leading third goal of the season at 9:46 to give the Purple Knights a 2-1 lead which they never relinquished.
Leading 2-1 at halftime, Bridgeport padded its advantage with goals by Jose Uresti (Soph., Pharr, Texas) in the 48th minute, and classmate Luis Trapp (Cologne, Germany) in the 86th minute.
UB goalkeeper Clement Anet (Grad., Cosse le Vivien, France) made four saves to pick up the victory in net for the Purple Knights.
