MEN'S SOCCER DROP 1-0 DECISION TO GOLDEN RAMS IN WILMINGTON TOURNAMENT

WILMINGTON, Del - The Bloomfield College Bears men's soccer team dropped their first game of the 2015 season to West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU) on Saturday afternoon by the score of 1-0 at the Wilmington University Tournament. The Bears fall to 0-1-1 on the early season while the Golden Rams improve to 1-1-0 with Bloomfield's next contest coming at home on Wednesday, Sept. 9th against Wilmington University.

WCU dominated the first half with ten shots as one broke thru in the 35th minute of play off the foot of Roberto Silva (Kennett Square, Pa.) past Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) to put the Golden Rams up 1-0. The goal proved to be all WCU would need as the Bears offense hibernated in the opening period as the teams battled on nuetral ground at the WilmU Athletic Complex in Wilmington, Del.

Bloomfield picked up the pace in the second half forcing the Golden Rams keeper to make six saves during the period but Matt Palmer (Bangor, Pa.) preseved his first shutout of the season and his team's first vitory as well. Junior transfer student, Paulo Claudio (San Paulo, Brazil) managed three shots for the contest with two of them being denied by Palmer. Junior forward, Shaunavon DeSouza (Montego Bay, Jamaica) tried two shots on the day with one of them on target but without getting thru.

Bloomfield will look to break into the win column with an early strong test from the Wildcats, as they visit Foley Field on Wednesday for the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle of the season. Game time on the pitch is set for 7:00pm. Stay up-to-date with the latest news, including game previews and recaps, from the Bloomfield College athletic department by liking the Bears on Facebook and following the Bears on Twitter or Instagram @GO_BCBears.
