BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The women's volleyball team suffered their third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback Tuesday evening when Nyack College paid a visit to the Den and walked away with a, 3-0 victory. The loss dropped the Bears to 5-10 on the year and 4-3 in league play while the Warriors improved to 5-6 overall with a 4-3 conference mark.
During the opening set, the teams traded points up until, 5-5 and then the Warriors battled ahead with ten of the next thirteen points to go up, 15-8. Bloomfield could not regain a foothold in the set and eventually dropped the opener, 25-13. Set 2 was a little closer but had similar results, after being tied, 7-7, Nyack forged ahead for a 25-22 win. The visitors closed out the sweep in Set 3 with a 25-19 victory.
CACC Honor Roll player this week,
Jandra Fabian (Santa Dominigo, DR) recorded 15 kills to lead the Bears to go along with 7 digs, 3 blocks and 3 services aces for a solid all-around performance.
Junelly Marrero (Cantano, PR) registered 16 assists in the setback and led the team in digs with 9.
Linda Thomas (Irvington, NJ) chipped in 8 digs, 2 assists and one service ace.
Bloomfield will try to halt their CACC skid when they travel to Goldey-Beacom College on Friday. The road conference battle with the Lightning is set for a 7:00 pm start time.
