Bridgeport, Conn.-Sophomore Tyne Hewlette (Bayshore, N.Y.) and freshman James Napoli (Wantagh, N.Y.) each netted a hat trick and junior Dewey Schoenfelder (Mt. Airy. Md.) had two goals, but conference-leader Georgian Court University proved too much for the Purple Knights, as the visiting Lions spoiled UB's first-ever men's lacrosse Senior Day defeating the Purple Knights, 21-8. Bridgeport is now 1-11 overall and 0-6 in the Central Collegiate Athletic Conference, and GCU moves to 10-5 overall and remains unbeaten in the CACC at 6-0.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Peter Nazario (So., Farmingdale, N.Y.) was strong in the Purple Knights net making a total of 17 saves.
Prior to the contest, the team honored the lone senior on its inaugural squad in Nick Whelan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.).
Up next, the UB men's lacrosse team will close out its first season of play on Friday afternoon when the Purple Knights host Wilmington (Del.) University at 4:00 p.m. on Knights Field.
