TITUSVILLE, FLA. - Senior
Annette Daw (Gallup, N.M.) drove in a run in the 2nd and classmate
Melissa Yepez (Paramount, Calif.) scored in the 3rd and it proved to be all Bloomfield College needed as they defeated the Griffins, 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park in sunny Florida. The non-conference tilt in Titusville improved the Bears record to 2-2 overall with junior
Kirsten Wilson (Beaver Falls, P.A.) picking up her second victory of the season on the mound. Chestnut Hill fell to 0-14 with the setback as they wind down their Cocoa Beach Tournament play.
Wilson (2-0) pitched a complete game gem, sprinkling two hits across seven innings and struck out nine batters. The Bears hurler forced eight fly-outs and four ground-outs, while walking just two. Her counterpart on the Griffins' side of the ball, Briannen Holloway was equally effective, fanning seven across six innings of work and allowed two runs on four hits.

Junior
Paige Lafferty (Liberty Hill, T.X.) reached on an error by the Chestnut Hill third basemen and moved into scoring position on a single by classmate,
Aubrey Orr (Gallup, N.M.) in the bottom second. Daw knocked a single back up the middle that allowed Lafferty to score from second.
Â
The Bears doubled their lead in the third when Yepez drew a lead-off walk and advanced to third on single to left by
Faith Apolskis (Soquel, Calif.). Apolskis stole second base, which led to Yepez scoring on an errand throw from the Griffins catcher to second base as the pitchers took over and closed the door on the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Â
Daw, Orr and Apolskis each went one-for-two on the day with the senior second basemen picking up the lone RBI of the day.
