Purple Knights Look To Get Back In The Win Column At Home On Tuesday Against Felician
Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting Georgian Court University Lions scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back on their way to a high-scoring, 20-12, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse victory over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon at UB's Knights Field. Bridgeport is now 3-4 overall and falls for the first time in conference play, as UB is now 2-1 in the CACC. GCU is 3-0 in conference play, and the Lions move to 4-5 overall in 2023.
Megan Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) led the Bridgeport offense with four goals on the day. Fellow graduate student Andrea Basilicato (Guilford, Conn.) had three goals and one assist for the Purple Knights, and Danielle Kreitler (Grad., Shelton, Conn.) finished with a three-point day with a pair of goals and one assist. Danielle also led Bridgeprot with eight draw controls on the afternoon.
Three Purple Knights added single tallies versus the Lions, as Emily Stuart (Fr., Rising Sun, Md.), Tereza Kreuzova (Sr., Prague, Czech Republic) and Tara Dimaio (Fr., Shirley, N.Y.) each found the back of the net once.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jacklyn Mellia (Nanuet, N.Y.) made nine saves in the UB net on Saturday.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team closes out its two-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon at Knights Field when the Golden falcon of Felician University come calling for a 4:00 p.m. CACC tilt.
