BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The playoff atmosphere was in full effect at the Den as the Bloomfield College men's basketball team opened the Quarterfinal Round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament with a, 77-62 win over USciences Saturday afternoon. Ahmid Williams (Monroe, N.J.), playing in his final home game at the Den, went 5-of-8 from the field, all from behind the arc for 16 points while All-CACC First Team member,

How It Happened
- Both teams seemed a little sluggish after the opening tip and combined for just eleven points four minutes into the contest. The Bears saw their first lead of the day after a Williams three-pointer made it 8-6 at the 15:54 mark
- The CACC squads traded buckets for the middle portion of the period as each tried to find an advantage to seize the momentum of the game. Bloomfield found their stride and exploded on a 12-0 run as the Devils went scoreless over a four-minute stretch and found themselves down 36-23 with five minutes until the break
- Williams was on fire in the first half and buried 3-of-4 from behind the three point line, putting his team up 12 (42-30) heading into the locker room. Kelly netted 9 of his points in the opening frame and the Bears were in control at the half
- There were no answers to be found for USciences in the second half with Bloomfield up to the task at every turn the Devils made. Chiedozie Akawauku (Newark, N.J.) had a thunderous dunk after a Davidson steal and Bloomfield had their largest advantage (18), 69-51 with under four minutes left to
- The home team made the most of their opportunities and capitalized with 16 points on 12 USciences turnovers. The Bears shared the ball well and dished out 19 assists on the day led by All-CACC Third Team member, Marcus Fleming (Linden, N.J.) who had 6 helpers to go along with his 8 points
- The Bears were also efficient in the paint, holding a 36-26 point margin over the Devils and enjoyed a 19-13 edge in bench production
Up Next: The Semifinal Round is on the horizon for the #1N seeded Bears as they await a rubber match against #3N seeded Cougars next Saturday at 12:00 pm. The Newman Center on the campus of Caldwell University will host the final two rounds of the CACC Tournament with a men's basketball champion being crowned on Sunday at 12:00 pm. The regular season boasted each of the North Division teams winning a game on the other's home court and the semifinal round battle is promised to be a dandy of a finale to the trilogy.
