Box Score BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College Bears women's soccer team fell behind in the first half to the Mavericks of Mercy College and were unable to mount a comeback, losing 5-0 under the lights this evening at Foley Field. The loss to the non-conference Mavericks drops Bloomfield to 0-6 overall
this season while Mercy improves to 6-1 on the year.
Despite Mercy College women's soccer team being ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire East Region Poll last week, the Bears defense allowed only 1 goal in the opening period. Sophomore goalkeeper,
Diana Vincentini (Lacey TWP, N.J.) picked up 8 saves in the first half as Bloomfield sought to keep pace with the Mavericks.
In the second half, Mercy College would breakthrough scoring four goals in a 14 minute span (49:28 - 63:54) to seize the control of the game and take the road victory on the Bears home turf. The Mavericks out-shot Bloomfield 24-5 for the contest and held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks on the night.
