BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team had plenty of opportunities but could not find the offensive firepower to overtake the visiting Cougars from Caldwell and dropped a 60-45 decision. Bloomfield missed a golden opportunity to take over 1
st place in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division as the setback pushed their league record to 2-1 with a 2-7 overall mark. Caldwell University improved to 8-2 on the year and 2-0 in conference action with Saturday afternoon's victory.
The Bears churned in their second-lowest scoring output of the year (45) and shot just 28.8 percent from the field. Senior transfer,
Dayanni Cochran (Las Vegas, NV) was the lone player in double-figures for the home team with a season-high, 17 points. Caldwell produced their lowest scoring game of 2017-18 on Saturday and clung to a 27-20 advantage at the halftime break. The visitors failed to attempt a single free-throw across the first two quarters.
Bloomfield showed signs of life to begin the 3
rd quarter, going on an 8-2 spurt to pull within 30-28 but three consecutive buckets from the Cougars extended their edge up to ten (38-28). The Bears had very few answers down the stretch and the Cougars claimed their second CACC win.
The Bears will take some time off before their next contest on December 18
th when they travel to face the Adelphi Panthers. Tip-off against the Northeast-10 opponent is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
