JUDSON STOPS BEARS, 2-0 IN FLORIDA NITECAP

TITUSVILLE, FLA. - It was a tale of a long day for the Bloomfield College softball team Monday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park, as the Bears fell in their third game of the day to Judson University, 2-0 in the nightcap.

The evening loss moved Bloomfield to 4-5 overall while Judson improved to 4-4 on the season.

The Eagles' scored a run in the third and fourth inning that proved to be more than enough offense to secure the victory with Bloomfield scattering five hits but failed to drive in a run. Senior pitcher, Stephanie Miller (Temecula, Calif.) stepped on the mound in relief at the top of the third and hit a batter, which lead to the Eagles first run after a single thru the right side.

Miller spotted Judson a runner again in the top of the fourth after a lead off walk set the stage for the Eagles to double their advantage off a grounder to second. Kirsten Wilson (Beaver Falls, P.A.) took over in the bottom fifth and held Judson scoreless the rest of the way but Bloomfield failed to answer on the offensive side of the plate.

Junior transfer, Paige Lafferty (Liberty Hill, T.X.) continued her stellar play in Florida and went 2-for-3 in the game. The Bears' infielder went 4-for-8 on the day and sported a .321 average after nine games of play in the Sunshine State. Classmate Gabby Citriniti (Corning, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 with a double and recorded a stolen base on the night.

Miller (1-3) picked up the loss in two innings of work, allowing two runs on two hits and walking two batters. Wilson gave up a hit and a walk but struck out two in two innings on the mound.

Bloomfield will look for redemption tomorrow morning when they conclude their Spring Break Tournament trip with a double-dip against Judson University at the Chain of Lakes Park. The Eagles and Bears are set to tangle at 8:00 am and 10:00 am.
