PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Bears women's basketball team went on the road Saturday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) inter-divisional battle and edged out the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College, 73-72. The hotly contested match up featured reigning CACC Player of the Year,
Tianna Smith (Spring Valley, N.Y.) with a game-high 25 points on ten made field goals including two from beyond the arc. Bloomfield also received solid production off the bench as
Zhane Robinson (Newark, N.J.) poured in 17 points to go along with 9 rebounds and
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, N.V.) added 10 points and 2 blocked shots at the Sorgenti Arena.

How It Happened
- The Bears were sluggish off the bus and the Griffins soared out front to an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter. Smith netted a bucket in the paint to stop the visiting team's drought but Chestnut Hill kept their foot on the gas and took an 18-12 advantage into the second frame
- Bloomfield settled in during the 2nd quarter and after trailing, 27-19 at the 7:09 mark, used a 10-0 run to seize their first lead of the contest (29-27). A layup in the paint from Floyd gave the squad from the CACC North Division a, 38-37 edge going into the halftime break
- Smith had fourteen points by the intermission and had dished out four assists and snagged two steals. Robinson also had two steals and chipped in seven points when the teams headed to the locker rooms
- The Griffins erased their slight deficit in the third quarter as the teams battled basket-for-basket during the frame and by the end, the score was knotted at 57-57
- Floyd and Smith scored the first two buckets in the final frame and Bloomfield kept pace with the CACC South Division squad to set the scene for a dramatic finish. A bucket in the paint by Chestnut Hill put the Bears down 72-71 with seven seconds to play but Smith went coast-to-coast in six seconds to score the game-winner and secured the Bears second-straight league victory
Up Next: Bloomfield will welcome the Hawks of Saint Anselm College to the Den for a non-conference regional tilt. The Monday afternoon match up is set for a 3:00 pm start on Martin Luther King Day.
