Samirah Henderson Leads UB With 23 Points But Women's Basketball Sees Two-Game Winning Streak Snapped At Felician
Purple Knights Set To Open ECC Play At D'Youville On Friday
Rutherford, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team fell behind 7-0 to begin the game, and the Purple Knights could never dig themselves out of that hole, as UB saw its two-game winning streak snapped by the host Felician University Golden Flacons, who picked up an 85-65 win on Tuesday night in New Jersey. Bridgeport now stands at 3-4 overall, and Felician evens its 2021-22 season record at 4-4.
Samirah Henderson (Grad., Rahway, N.J.) led the Purple Knights in scoring on Tuesday night with a team-leading 23 points.
Henderson was joined in double-digit scoring by classmate Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.) and junior Stephanie McBride (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who each scored 10 points. Loney chipped in four assists for Bridgeport, and McBride finished the evening with her fourth double-double of the year pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.
The Golden Falcons, who had four players reach double figures, were led by Katelyn Andres, who netted a game-high 25 points for the winners.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team continues its four-game road trip on Friday night in Western New York, when the Purple Knights open East Coast Conference play at D'Youville College. Game time in Buffalo, New York is set for 6:00 p.m.
