BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - Junior forward Marin Jonjic (Podstrana, Croatia) came off the bench and had a hand in both second half goals, but the Bloomfield College men's soccer team fell to Caldwell University, 3-2 at Foley Field in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action tonight. With the loss, Bloomfield descends to 3-7-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the CACC, while the Cougars will bump to a 7-4-0 record with a 4-3-0 stand in league play.

Caldwell jumped out to an early lead as Christian Castro pushed a penalty kick passed freshman goalie Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) for a 1-0 advantage in the 40th minute of play. The Bears held the shot advantage at 8-7 in the first half, but were unable to transfer any of them into points as the Cougars went into the break up by one. 

In the second half of play, Jonjic whose foul inside the box in the first period had given Caldwell the lead, looked for redemption off a pass from Rafique Roberts (Portmore, Jamaica) and found the back of the net to even the contest at 1-1 in the 61st minute. About six minutes later Jonjic would feed sophomore forward Shaunavon deSouza (Montego Bay, Jamaica) who buried his third goal of the season in the twine past the Cougar goal keeper and the Bears enjoyed a 2-1 lead. Caldwell had the answer, however, just 4:17 later as Sam Odell picked up a goal off a pass from Steve Petrosino and tied the score once again, this time at 2-2. Odell would return the favor in the 86th minute of action, serving up an assist for Petrosino's go ahead goal and 5th on the season. Down 3-2, the Bears last ditched effort came in the form of a free kick after a Cougar yellow card with just thirteen seconds remaining in play but the ball sailed harmlessly thru a sea of players, ending up out of bounds and leaving Bloomfield out of time.

Cisneros collected 8 saves in the loss and the Bears held a 17-12 advantage in shots and claimed a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
