BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team welcomed back senior,
Zhane Robinson (Newark, NJ) after the Christmas break and picked up an, 80-67 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Felician University. The New Year's Eve thriller at The Den saw the Bears improve to 3-8 overall with a 3-1 mark in league games. Robinson, in her first action of the year, netted a career-high double-double with 41 points and 18 rebounds as the Golden Falcons dropped to 3-7 for the season and 1-2 in CACC match-ups.
Robinson provided the Bears with instant offense in the first quarter, knocking down back-to-back 3-pointers to start the game. The Bloomfield forward poured in 15 opening quarter points en-route to a 21-9 advantage for the home team after the period. Robinson poured in 22 points by the time the teams headed into the locker room and the Bears held a comfortable, 37-28 lead.
The Golden Falcons soared back across the second half of play and tied the contest at 64-64 with 4:41 remaining in the 4
th quarter. The Bears were up to the task and secured the conference victory down the stretch from the free-throw line as they held the visitors to just three points.
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) added 12 points and 6 rebounds to the Bloomfield effort.
The Bears will travel for their first CACC contest of 2018 when they face the Warriors of Nyack College on Wednesday, January 3
rd. The battle is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
