Men's Lacrosse Opens 2020 Season, Falling to Chestnut Hill 21-6

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 21-6 decision to the Chestnut Hill Griffins on Tuesday afternoon in the team's 2020 home opener at Spartan Field.

Tyler Senatore lit the lamp on three occasions for the Spartans, while Tom Solimando, Timothy Zimnoch and Anthony Irizarry tallied a goal apiece. Ryan Guild (L, 0-1) got the start between the pipes for STAC and made 14 saves on the day, before being relieved by Giorgio D'Angelo late in the third quarter. D'Angelo had 4 stops over the final 15:40.

Chestnut Hill's offensive outburst was led by Carson Rees with 5 goals and 2 assists, followed up by J.R. Howell with 5 goals and Scott Wilden with 4 goals. Maurice Kelly (2 goals) and Ben Rivak, Jack Clyne, Bill DiMaio, P.J. Spernal and Austin Philistine (1 goal each) also contributed to the scoring for the Griffins. Goalie Jake Miller picked up his first win of the season, stopping 7 of 13 shots faced. Mike Trezza and Stephen Hogan shared the cage for the final 12:40 of the forth quarter, making 5 total saves. 

Shots for the game were 59 (39 on goal) for the visiting Griffins and 29 (18 on goal) for STAC.

St. Thomas Aquinas (0-1) hosts American International College at Spartan Field on Friday, February 21st. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 3pm.
