BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The No. 4-seeded Bloomfield College men's soccer team (12-3-2) advanced over the No. 5-seeded Georgian Court University Lions (10-6-2) Monday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships. The Bears held on for a 1-0 victory at Foley Field after a scoreless first half.
 
Bloomfield netted their lone goal of the day in the 70th minute of play when Warwick Stirling crossed a ball from the end line into the box and All-CACC Second Team player, Nicholas Calabia finished off the play to put the home team up.
 
The Bears hosted the opening round of the league tournament for the first time since 2012 as Georgian Court entered postseason action as the defending champs of the CACC. The Lions enjoyed a 14-9 advantage in shots for the match but fellow All-CACC Second Team defender, William Baah helped keeper, Jovan Stanojkovic secure his fifth shutout of the year with five days in the contest.
The CACC Rookie of the Year, Regsan Watkins had three shots on the day as Bloomfield advanced to the semi-final round.
 
With last year's champs gone, the Bears now set their sights on this season's No. 1-seeded Jefferson Rams. The teams will battle on Friday, Nov. 3 on the campus of Georgian Court University, the site of the 2017 CACC Soccer Championships for men and women in Lakewood, N.J. with an 11:00 am scheduled start.
