Baseball falls against Caldwell
LAKE WORTH, Florida - Despite an early lead, the American International College baseball team dropped a 7-5 decision against Caldwell University on Tuesday, March 14.
AIC dropped to 4-5 with the loss.
The game started strongly for AIC; Brendan Edvardsen and Michael Cruz walked and both moved up on a wild pitch, allowing Jackson Haker to single and drive them in.
The Cougars struck for a run in the second, but AIC countered in the top of the fourth. Kyle Leifert singled and was sacrificed over, which set up Ryan Lavelle to drive him in.
However, AIC's lead evaporated as the Cougars scored two to tie it in the home half, and then scored a run in each of the next two frames to take a two-run lead. AIC did notch a run in the seventh on a Kiernan Caffrey RBI single, but the Cougars netted two more in the bottom of the frame.
AIC's last run came in the eighth, as Yeudy Ramirez scored on a wild pitch after reaching on an error. AIC had the tying run at the plate in the ninth but could not convert.
The Yellow Jackets next face Lynn University at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15.
