BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The men's basketball team used a 41-point second half to force overtime Wednesday evening against St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) but it was not enough as the Spartans claimed an 83-79 win at 'The Den'. The Bears slide to 4-2 after their second consecutive non-conference setback with the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) part of the schedule set to kickoff this Saturday. STAC improved to 6-3 on the year and avenged an, 83-72 loss to Bloomfield last year at home on New Year's Eve.
 
Senior Rakwan Kelly (Newark, NJ) secured his second double-double (17 points, 13 rebounds) of the season and Marcus Fleming (Linden, NJ) led the comeback charge with a game-high 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor.  Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) poured in 16 points while Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) rounded out the Bears top scorers with 11 points.
 
Bloomfield dug a whole in the first half, making just 11 buckets for a season-low 29 points in the opening frame but quickly made amends by shooting 47.2 percent from the field in the second stanza to knot the score up at 70-70. The overtime period was decided by rebounds with the visitors holding a 7-2 edge and ultimately turning that into more scoring opportunities to solidify the road win.
 
Next on the radar for the Bears will be their CACC North Division rivals, the Chargers from Dominican College. Dominican enters Saturday's 3:00 pm contest with an unbeaten record and a chip on their shoulder after being bounced out of the league tournament last year by the claws of the defending conference Champs. 'The Den' is sure to be on tilt in anticipation of the CACC battle with Live Stats and Video available on the bears website.
