BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team cruised to an, 86-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory Saturday afternoon. The league win over Chestnut Hill College in The Den pushed Bloomfield's perfect record to 10-0 in conference matches and 15-3 overall. The Griffins, who have never beaten the Bears in CACC play, fell to 2-15 on the year and 1-9 in conference action.

Safee Abdus-Sabur (West Orange, NJ) recorded a game-high 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, which included, 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Abdus-Sabur, who now tops the CACC in three-point shooting percentage (47.0 percent), led five Bears in double-figures as Bloomfield's offense exploded in the second half. As a team, the CACC top's squad shot 42.6 percent from the floor and knocked down 14 three-pointers.

Bloomfield took a quick 5-0 lead to start the game and controlled the tempo of the contest from start to finish. The Griffins battled in 1st half and traded baskets with the home team but the Bears had too much firepower and took a 38-25 lead into intermission.

The home team tickled the nets from long range in the 2nd half and broadened the gap between them and Chestnut Hill by knocking down 57.1 percent (8-of-14) of their threes. The lead ballooned to as-many-as 36 (73-37) after back-to-back three-pointers from Ignacio Diez (Madrid, Spain) and Juan Brown (Annapolis, MD) who finished the day with 11 and 10 points respectively off the bench.

Starters, Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) and Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) rounded out the Bears top scorers as the duo combined for 22 points and ten rebounds. Junior transfer, Jericho Cherisma (Brooklyn, NY) tied a career-high with eleven boards to go along with 5 points.

Bloomfield now turns their sights on the CACC North Division's 2nd place team, Dominican College for a Wednesday evening face-off. The Bears hit the road for a 7:30 pm tip-off with the Chargers who look for redemption after dropping an 86-81 decision to the league's undefeated squad back in early December.
