BEARS PLAY LIONS TO 1-1 TIE IN CACC ACTION ON THE ROAD

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team took to the road Saturday afternoon and played the Georgian Court University squad to a 1-1 tie in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The tie represents the second stalemate for the Bears and evens their record across the board at 2-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in CACC play. The Lions moved to 1-0-1 in conference matches and 2-2-1 overall.

Bloomfield seized control early when Paulo Claudio (San Paulo, Brazil) found the back of the net off a feed from Tevin Blake (Savannah la Mar, Jamaica) in the 23rd minute for his CACC-leading seventh goal of the season. The Bears mounted five shots in the opening half with all of them on target forcing Aleksander Milosevic (Belgrade, Serbia) to come up with four saves as the visitors went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

The Lions' found their equalizer goal deep into the second half on a controversial play in the 86th minute off the foot of Garrett McVeigh (Cherry Hill, N.J.) The Bears keeper, Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) tripped over a Georgian Court player in the box allowing McVeigh to rip the equalizer into the net. Cisneros received his first yellow card of the season arguing the play as time expired in regulation.

The teams offered a shot each during the two overtime periods but the match ended in a tie. Bloomfield outshot the Lions, 16-9, with the home team earning a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.

The Bears return to CACC action on Tuesday when they host the Chargers of Dominican College. The conference match-up on the pitch at Foley Field is set to start at 7:00pm.
