HOLY FAMILY SWEEPS BLOOMFIELD SOFTBALL, 4-0 AND 13-1

NEWTOWN, PA - The Bloomfield College softball team was swept for the first tme in CACC play this season, falling to Holy Family by scores of 4-0 and 13-1.  This marked Holy Family's first sweep of the Bears since 2008 and their game two loss marked their biggest margin of defeat in CACC play since a 15-0 loss to Georgian Court that same year.

In game one, Bloomfield (17-11, 7-5 CACC) mustered just four singles off Holy Family Bailey Walters.

The Tigers scored a single run in the bottom of the first on a double, two more in the third and then another in the fourth.  Bloomfield didn't get their first runner to third base until the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out.  However, Holy Family turned a 3-2-3 double play to escape the jam.

Kirsten Wilson (11-3) pitched six innings, struck out nine, allowed eight hits and walked five.

Holy Family took command of game two in the fourth when they scored four runs, three of them coming on a home run to left.  The Tigers put the game away the next inning when they scored nine runs, seven of which came on two swings of the bat (a three run homer and a grand slam).

Bloomfield had six hits in the game.  Aubrey Orr went 3-3 and Greta Coleman was 2-2 with a double.  Janese Timmons had the only other hit for the Bears.

Stephanie Miller picked up the loss in a complete game effort.  Her record now stands at 6-8.

Bloomfield is scheduled to take on Dominican tomorrow for a home doubleheader.  The start time is scheduled for 3pm, weather pending.
