Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

BEARS FALL BEHIND IN 1-0 SHUTOUT TO THE LIGHTNING

WILMINGTON, D.E. – The Bloomfield College men's soccer team found themselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 decision Saturday afternoon against Goldey-Beacom College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback dropped the Bears to 6-4-1 in conference play and 8-5-2 overall. The Lightning improved to 6-11 on the year overall and 4-7 in league play.

Bloomfield's junior goalkeeper, Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) picked up three saves on the afternoon but allowed a ball off the head of Alvaro Martinez in the first half to get past that proved to be the difference in the game. The first half goal came in the 36th minute of play when a free kick from the right side of the box was redirected by Martinez with a Bloomfield defender trailing his mark. Goldey-Beacom held a 3-0 edge in corner kicks while the Bears slightly outshot the home team 4-3 in the opening period.

The second half saw the visiting team step up their intensity, as Bloomfield forced 7 corner kicks, but the Lightning were ready and held on to preserve the CACC shutout victory.  Paulo Claudio (San Paulo, Brazil) and Hugues Douyon (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) each managed a shot on goal for the Bears during the match.

Bloomfield will close out the 2015 regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 27th against Post University. The Bears will travel to Waterbury, Conn. to face the Eagles at 3:00 pm in a game that will help decide Bloomfield's final post-season seeding and whether or not they will host a firs-round playoff game at Foley Field.
