Tigers Return to CACC Championship Game After Knocking Off Wilmington



Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team will be heading back to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game for an unprecedented fourth consecutive year after defeating fourth-seeded Wilmington University by the score of 21-10 in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.
 
Holy Family, the top-seed in this year's tournament, improves to 13-3 overall as the Tigers extended their winning streak to 11 games tying the 2012 team with the longest winning-streak in a single season.
 
Wilmington concludes its season at 7-11 overall.
 
Junior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) and freshman Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) combined to score 13 of the team's 21 goals on the afternoon.  Settar tied her career-high with seven goals to go along with one assist.  She also controlled a game-high six draws.  Bachmayer tallied a career-high six goals to go along with two assists to finish with eight points.  She also picked up five ground balls.
 
Senior Christina Bonomo (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) finished with two goals and one assist, while junior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) added two scores.  Sophomore Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) tallied three ground balls. 
 
For Wilmington, junior Sara LeBrun led the Wildcats with four goals.  Senior Megan Keffer and freshman La'Dae Boykin each recorded two goals.  Senior Rebekah McCurry finished with one goal and one assist to go along with a game-high two caused turnovers.
 
With the game tied 1-1, Holy Family scored five unanswered goals to take a 6-1 lead by the 10:52 mark of the half.  The Wildcats responded by scoring three of the game's next four goals to cut the lead to 7-4 with less than two minutes to play before halftime.
 
Holy Family tacked on two more goals by Braungart and Bachmayer in the final 1:06 of the half to lead 9-4 entering halftime. 
 
In the second half, the Tigers went on to take a commanding lead by the midway point of the half after opening with 6-2 run.  Junior Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) capped the run with a goal at the 16:12 mark to give the Tigers their biggest lead of the game to that point at 15-6. 
 
Holy Family went on to outscore the Wildcats, 12-6, in the second half.
 
Junior Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made ten saves in net for the Tigers after facing 24 shots by Wilmington. 
 
Holy Family outshot the Wildcats, 45-24, for the game and also held the advantage in ground balls (18-1) and draw controls (19-13). 
 
Wilmington goalkeeper Corinne Dries made 15 saves in net.
 
Holy Family will face second-seeded and host Georgian Court University in the championship game on Sunday.  Game time is slated for 12 p.m.  This will mark the third time that the Tigers and Lions will meet up in the conference championship final.  Georgian Court won the championship game in 2010, while the Tigers won in 2012.
