SPRINGFIELD, MASS – The Bears men's basketball team spent the weekend after finals on the campus of American International College (AIC) at the Yellow Jackets Holiday Classic and suffered an, 85-80 loss to Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon. The non-conference battle dropped Bloomfield's overall record to 7-3 while the Ravens improved to 5-5 on the year.
The Bears enjoyed a slim, 36-35 halftime lead after shooting only 36.8 percent from the field (14-of-38) in the opening frame.
Marcus Fleming (Linden, NJ) poured in 10 first half points and
Nick Davidson (Lumberton, NJ) added 9 with Bloomfield using six free throws in the period to stay ahead of Franklin Pierce.
Davidson ended the day with 20 points to lead five Bloomfield players in double-figures.
Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) provided a spark netting 13 points while
Ignacio Diez (Madrid, Spain) and
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) combined for 21 points. Fleming finished the contest with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
Next up on the AIC Holiday Classic schedule, the Bears square off with the hosts for a Sunday afternoon showdown. The Yellow Jackets roll out the red carpet at 3:00 pm with Bloomfield looking to get back to their winning ways.
