BLOOMFIELD SPLITS WITH FELICIAN, MOVES TO 6-2 IN CACC

LYNDHUSRT, NJ - Melissa Yepez singled home a run and Kirsten Wilson doubled with the bases loaded as Bloomfield College scored four runs in the ninth inning of game one to top Felician College, 6-4.  The Bears lost a rainy game two 9-8 when Felician scored on a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh.

The Bears (14-8, 6-2 CACC), took an early lead in game two when they scored a run in the top of the second,  Greta Coleman walked to lead off the frame and was bunted to second by Shannon Brennan.  Bayley Legarreta then launched a deep double to left to score Coleman with the game's first run.

Felician answered back in the bottom of the fourth.  Two hit by pitches and an infield single loaded the bases with one out for the Golden Falcons.  Wilson (9-2) walked a batter to force in the tying run and then allowed a sacrifice fly as Felician tied it up.  The play could have cause much more damage if not for a fine running catch in left center field by Lauren Bueno.

Bloomfield tied the game right back up in their next at bat as Bueno led off the fifth with a triple to right center.  She came in to score on a single to right by Aubrey Orr.

The game remain tied through regulation and after Bloomfield wqent quietly in the top of the eighth, Felician mounted a serious threat in the bottom of the inning.  However, with runners on second and third with two outs, Wilson recorded a strikeout to end the threat.

In the top of the ninth, Bloomfield watsed no time in grabbing their lead.  Legarreta, who had been placed on second as per International Tiebreaker rules, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a single to center by Yepez.  Kelly Stites then singled and Bueno reached on an error to load the bases.  After a fielder's choice got Felician their second out of the inning, Wilson blasted a bases-clearining double to center to give Bloomfield a 6-2 lead.

Ciera Clark belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, but Wilson retired the next three batters in order to nail down the win.

Bloomfield had 10 hits in the game, with Legarreta, Yepez and Stites each recording two-hit games.

Wilson pitched all nine innings, allowing just five hits while striking out seven.

In game two, Felician and Bloomfield battled a cold, steady rain/snow mix as well as each other.

The Bears loaded the bases with no outs in the first and scored a run on a single through the middle by Wilson to take a 1-0 lead and Bloomfield took a 2-0 lead in the second as Bueno and Orr hit back-to-back two-out doubles.

However, Felician put up six runs in a rainy bottom of the second.  Two errors, two walks and a hit by pitch allowed Felician to take advantage and open a 6-2 lead.

Miller (5-6) recovered and didn't allow a hit in the third, fourth and fifth innings as Bloomfield fought their way back into the game.

Bueno belted her first homer as a Bear in the fourth inning to make the score 6-3 and then singled home Timmons, who had tripled to right, in the sixth to make it 6-4.  Wilson again came through with a clutch hit, singling to left to score Bueno and Orr ti tie the game at six.

Felician was able to answer in the bottom of the inning though when two walks put runners at first and second with one out.  A wild pitch advanced the runners to second and third and a single up the middle scored both to give Felician a 8-6 lead.

The Bears again fought back though as Yepez led off the seventh with a single and Annette Daw followed with a walk.  After Stites popped up a bunt, Timmons singled to load the bases.  Orr and Wilson each walked with the bases loaded as Bloomfield knotted the game at eight.

However, Felician scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.  Taylor Parker started the inning with a walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a single through the middle to give Felician the 9-8 win.

Bloomfield outhit Felician 14-6 on the afternoon.  Bueno was 3-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs.  The junior left fielder hit for the cycle over the course of the doubleheader.  Orr, Wilson, Yepez and Timmons had two hits each and Wilson had four RBIs in the game.  She recorded seven RBIs in the doubleheader to tie Felician's Clark for the CACC lead.

Bloomfield returns to action Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader at Mercy College.  Game time is set for 2:30pm.
